Default Game Journal

Punt me if you think it's lame, but I'm sitting here and it just hit me for the first time in my four years of game play here with Guru and Guild Wars.

I suppose it's silly question, but do you have a Game Journal, where you've kept notes, etc?

Right on. That's a good example and nice way to show in light with my question, albeit not where I meant to point :P

The only notes I keep are in a pad I keep under my desk.
I keep the birthdays of my characters.
Becuse /age doesn't keep the day, just the amount of months. :/

The only thing I've kept notes on is when I was capping elite skills (which ones I had done already so it was faster for me - not having to sift through all the skills I had) and also where I kept some weapons. Other than that, no other notes.

I do spreadsheets. My guildies love to rag on me for it. I've got checklists for Completion titles (Skill hunter, guardian, etc...), inventory tracking for mules, expected value calculations for various types of random containers (wintersday gifts, gifts of the traveler, trick or treat bags, etc... working on Zaishen chest but its slow and expensive).

There's a little tool called MappingOut with that purpose in mind and a lot more convinient, you should look it up. Made the whole process of getting Legendary Skill Hunter a lot easier without having to look up skills, bosses and their locations through the wiki, and a really nice search/filters feature to find what you still don't have according to name or every profession/area/game. Also has a lot more stuff like all the greens, collectors, everything pretty detailed, yes I do love it.

I do keep a few notes on a small notebook, mostly math about armour costs and some stats of my own like timing a lot of stuff and what not, but that's it.

XD Too bad I didn't know of that beforehand. I actually used a spreadsheet for the skills. hehe

I use MappingOut to track skills/quests/etc and when I decide to have a storage clear out I write every item and value down on a piece of paper.

I don't really have a journal, but I've taken notes on things before, yeah. I've got scraps of paper littered around my desk where I've calculated out armor costs, and I have a few text files on my computer with lists of what I've got in storage (mainly the amount of alcohol and party points I have).

One of the RPs I play in, though, I have an entire notebook dedicated to note-taking for, we made a wiki for, and we have several forum threads, just for tracking details and figuring out wtf is going on.

2 separate xls files and additional notes. One xls is for materials and if applicable their crafting prices. I update it once a while and check whether it is profitable to craft something and sell it to the merchant. Another one for all characters and how much they did so I know which mission I can do with which character. Notes I use for all the mods/inscriptions (the ones I have and the ones I miss and for which character/hero).

I have an in-character journal for my main that I play around with. It's a creative way to spend long family car trips, anyway.

Other than that, for actual game recording I'm addicted to screenshots. Every big accomplishment for all of my characters is recorded as it happens, then pasted all over my blog (much to the irritation of my friends who don't play, I'm sure :P).

I had a big ring-binder that was full of walkthroughs for every quest and mission from Pre-Searing to the Titan quests.

It finally seeped its way into my memory, so I haven't needed it for the past three years ^_^

I keep short gaming notes in a small notebook. I use it for keeping track of progress, if it's something that can't be recorded in-game, or random reminders and tips. I also use a game blog to record my thoughts about whatever game that's engrossing me at the moment.

Post-its work for me (when I don't lose them).

As for keeping a journal of my character's feats, I use screenshots for that. I think they tell the story best.

The only thing I took good notes on was when I was vanquishing. Things like bosses, problem areas (Rotscale, kiting centaur healers, patrols, etc), different builds I used and all that good stuff got written down and put in my guild's forums for other guildies to refer to before they go out clearing areas.
